HOUSECLEANING

Our motto is "Home Clean Home," and Helping Hands is in the business of cleaning your home from top to bottom every time we visit. We strive for perfection. We leave no stone, rug, or pillow unturned. Details make our day and so do all those tasks you don't want to do (but would love to have done), including dusting, vacuuming, window washing, and down-on-your-knees floor cleaning. Isn't it time to relinquish your smudgy walls, forgotten baseboards, refrigerator doors (with their sticky handles), and those daddy long legs who hide in corners? We're Helping Hands and we're here here for you.

LAUNDRY AND IRONING

From your soccer uniform to your permanent-press shirts and antique linen napkins, let us wash away your laundry-day chores. We are happy to include laundry and professional ironing services in your cleaning routine.

PET, SIT, WALK, AND PLAY

Pets love Helping Hands and we love them back. (It makes our day to discover a long lost pet toy while cleaning under the couch.) We'd be delighted to spend play time or walk time with your four-legged friend (wings and fins count too!). And just think -- you return to a clean house and a happy pet.

If you're out of town, let us periodically check your home and keep things running smoothly. We'll take care of weekly garbage pick up, keep house and garden plants watered, and perform routine maintenance and repairs you never seem to get around to. And, before you return, we'll stock the refrigerator with your favorite morning juice or midnight snack. Welcome home!

Planning to move or remodel? Who is better qualified to pack and unpack your items than your housecleaner? We know your things; we know where they go; and we know how you like them maintained and organized, leaving you more time to play.

To avoid post-construction blues, let us do your post-construction clean up. As professional cleaners, we are up close and personal with every inch of your house. We inspect and clean the nooks and crannies where construction dust loves to hide. We see the dings and dents you may not notice and we make a list for you and your contractor. This is the ideal way to help your contractor conclude his work and for you to enjoy your surroundings.

How we work.

Do I need to be home?

You do not need to be home for us... but we always love it when you are!


Do I always have the same cleaner?

You will always have the same cleaner unless your cleaner is sick or on vacation.  In that case, we ask if you would prefer a substitute or not. Since every detail of how to care for your home is documented, a substitute should be able to do a very good job.


How often do you come?

We are a weeekly cleaning service. The consistency allows us to maintain the standards our customers expect.

Do they always come on the same time, and on the same day?

Yes, you have the same cleaner on the same day and at the same time every week.


What is included in a standard cleaning?

Standard cleaning by us includes everything! We take out the trash and recycling, detail dusting, washing all floors and baseboards on hands and knees with cotton diapers, vacuuming, cob-webbing, cleaning door frames, picture frames, window frames, and sills, detail cleaning in the bathrooms and kitchen, and more.


Do you do laundry, ironing, errands?

Yes, we do laundry, errands, pet-walking, grocery shopping, pick up dry-cleaning.... anything you need.

Do I provide the supplies?

We provide all the supplies.


Do you wash windows?

We wash windows over kitchen sinks because they get splatters and we wash glass doors that get kid or pet prints on them. We do not do whole house windows - but - we do arrange for window cleaning to be done while we are there, so you don't have to be!


What if I have a security alarm?

If you have an alarm, we will need the code.


what if something gets broken?

Our employees are trained to be very careful. Accidents do happen. If something is broken, you will be notified immediately. The item will be left with a note. We will repair or replace it right away.


Our rates.

 

How do you determine the rate?

We come to your home for a consultation. During the consultation we discuss what you specifically want done in each room. Based on your needs, we estimate how many labor hours we will need to care for your home.

We usually do a "first clean" to get the whole house clean, which is always more than the normal cleaning time. After the first clean and two more cleans, we have a good idea of how long your house will take.

How long have you been in business?

We have been caring for Portland homes and businesses since 1989.

Do I need to sign a contract?

We do not have contracts. We bill by the hours worked. Hours are “per person” hours, i.e. two persons for two hours equals four hours.

Is there a minimum?

Frequency is based on your needs. Our minimum is 4 hours per week. Most clients take 5-6 hours per week. (Check out examples under Our Rates)

So what does it cost?

Many prospective clients ask us for a ballpark figure during our initial conversation. That’s difficult to do until we visit with you and your home to determine your individual needs and preferences. But we know you’re curious and so we’ve done our best to come up with some examples. Remember, each of these clients has gone through a thorough consultation and checklist. We look forward to doing the same for you!

A 1,000-square-foot condo where HH cleans every inch of the three bathrooms, the kitchen, and all the floors (including baseboards of course), and some of the detail dusting. The owner likes to do the rest herself and she’s as persnickety at cleaning as we are. [This is the 4-hour example] Monthly cost: $900.

A 2,000-square-foot condo with three levels, two adults, two cats, a dog, and lots of cooking in the kitchen. Oh yes—and visiting grandkids too. HH cleans the priority areas from top to bottom every week. When the client is traveling, we spend time with seasonal tasks since the rest of the home doesn’t require the same amount of time to clean and we keep it within her budget. Monthly cost: $1250.

A 5000-square foot house with two kids, a dog, a cat, and a guinea pig. HH cleans the most used rooms and all floors every week. The less used rooms are cleaned twice a month. Monthly cost: $2200.

An 8,500-square-foot house with a big family, two dogs and lots of nooks and crannies. HH goes once a week and concentrates of the most lived in rooms, including six bedrooms, eight toilets, five showers, and more hallways than you can count. Monthly cost: $3,750.

How do I pay?

Payment is processed with a credit or debit card, or an ACH transaction.
